- As the medical equipment and general conditions are not as good as in developed countries, this is a great opportunity for you to see a different side of veterinary science and improve your skills in ways you might not have expected.
- Those inexperienced in actual medical techniques will learn a lot, but you will also be able to help our licensed vets by sharing your knowledge of Western veterinary practice with them.

- Must have a Certificate in Veterinary Nursing or Bachelor of Veterinary Technology/Nursing, or equivalent.
- We accept both experienced & freshly graduated Vet nurse / Vet Tech.
- This is a hands-on program geared towards veterinary professionals where the volunteer will be working with our full-time vets, monitoring and caring for the animals at our hospital.
- Learn how to do blood work and vaccination, post-operative care, dressing, weight the animal, clean and take care of the kennel, prepare and feed the animal, walk the dogs and take them on small hikes, daily enrichment, help the veterinarian and technician in daily tasks, participate in different lecture host by the clinic, teaching your skills to the staffs.
- Both vet Students & Vet Nursing students are only authorized to perform their duties as vet assistant.
- They must work under supervision and follow the guidelines given by PCAH veterinarian.
- Can only help the PCAH staffs in cleaning kennels, walking with dogs, feeding, providing water, maintaining the cleaningness of the hospital and other administrative help.

- Fleas, worms, weight loss fur loss, cuts – alert staff if you see any
- Dog hiking in the afternoon

- Make sure each dog in a cage has a clean, dry blanket
- Do basic treatments like dressing change

Duties: Based on your interests, skills, and experience, we will determine how you can best help us. Sometimes, you will do various fieldwork activities, such as animal welfare educational outreach.

- Accommodation ( 2 bunk bed in 1 room on sharing basis with fan, cold and hot water): Same room for both male & Female with attached restroom: additional fee (USD $ 10 per bed per day).
- Lunch & Dinner : Nepali food (Dal, Bhat & Seasonal Vegetables). additional fee (USD $ 5 for Lunch & $ 5 for Dinner per bed per day).

- Familiarize themselves with the staff and other volunteers on their shift.
- Only perform tasks they have been trained to do.
- Ask for assistance when needed.

- Avoid any interaction with animals in kennels/ cages designated “ Staff only”.
- Clean their hands frequently using antibacterial soap or the hand sanitizer found by sinks in every room.
- Wash hands after cleaning any animal or cage, after handling dirty laundry, before eating, before touching their mouth, and when leaving their shift.
- Wear closed-toed shoes, long pants, and t-shirts to prevent injury from scratches and bites.
- Bringing along a change of clothes and shoes is recommended.
- Stay home when they are ill.
- Inform a staff member immediately if they get scratched bitten or cut.
- Volunteers who are pregnant may require permission from a doctor to continue volunteering.
- Notify the vet or volunteer coordinator if they have a compromised immune system.
- Keep food and beverages in designated volunteer area at the location and never consume anywhere else.
- Do not bring valuables into the facility.
- Immediately report any safety hazards to a PCAH staff member.
- Never handle an animal without proper training. Ask staff to help if they feel uncomfortable handling an animal.
- Familiarize themselves with the emergency evacuation procedures and the location of the first aid kit and eye- wash stations.
- No smoking inside the room.
- No alcoholic drinks inside the entire hospital premises.
- Used plates and glasses should be cleaned by the person and placed in the right place.
- Food must be taken from the kitchen and should be consumed downstairs only.
- Keep the room tidy at all times.
- No used clothes on bed or in the room.
- Need to do their own laundry on their own.
Relationship with Staff:
Volunteers and staff are considered partners and must respect each other and their work. Volunteers enhance the work of staff. It is essential to maintain this relationship that each partner understands and respects each other. Volunteers shall follow all protocols and direction as established by PCAH. Responsibilities of Volunteers
Health & Safety for volunteers
The volunteer's personal safety, as well as the safety of other volunteers, staff and the animals, is paramount when volunteering. There are many risks associated with the work that a volunteer does, but these will be minimized if the volunteer understands and follows the established safety procedures and the instructions of staff.
Volunteers should take the following steps to minimize risks.
When to NOTIFY
